How to Reach Kashmir

By Air

The primary gateway to Kashmir by air is Srinagar International Airport (SXR), located about 12 km from Srinagar city center. It is well connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Jammu with daily flights operated by several airlines. From October to March, weather conditions may occasionally affect flight schedules, so it’s advisable to check in advance. Jammu Airport (IXJ), approximately 260 km from Srinagar, is another option, especially if you plan to start your journey from Jammu City or Katra. TravMe packages include private cab transfers from the airport to your destinations, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free start to your Kashmir holiday.

By Train

Jammu Tawi Railway Station (JAT) is the nearest major railhead to Kashmir, situated around 265 km from Srinagar. It is well connected to most metropolitan cities including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata via regular trains. From Jammu, the journey into the Kashmir Valley is completed by road. The scenic drive from Jammu to Srinagar takes about 7-8 hours, passing through the beautiful Chenab and Tawi river valleys. TravMe’s private cab services cover this route comfortably, with stops available at Katra for those visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine.

By Road

Kashmir is accessible by road throughout the year via the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44). The highway is well-maintained but can be affected by snowfall and landslides in winter months (December to February), so travel plans should be flexible during this period. Regular bus services operate from Jammu, Udhampur, and Katra to Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam. TravMe provides private cabs for all road transfers, allowing you to explore the region’s stunning landscapes at your own pace, including drives to Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and other scenic spots.
