Spring in Kashmir is a breathtaking spectacle as the valley bursts into bloom with tulips, cherry blossoms, and vibrant Mughal gardens like Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Garden coming alive. Temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C, making it ideal for sightseeing and leisurely walks around Dal Lake or the Outer Circle Walk in Srinagar. This season suits nature lovers and photographers eager to capture the valley’s floral beauty and pleasant weather before the summer rush.
The primary gateway to Kashmir by air is Srinagar International Airport (SXR), located about 12 km from Srinagar city center. It is well connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Jammu with daily flights operated by several airlines. From October to March, weather conditions may occasionally affect flight schedules, so it’s advisable to check in advance. Jammu Airport (IXJ), approximately 260 km from Srinagar, is another option, especially if you plan to start your journey from Jammu City or Katra. TravMe packages include private cab transfers from the airport to your destinations, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free start to your Kashmir holiday.

The ideal time to visit Kashmir is from April to October when the weather is mild (15-30°C) and gardens, lakes, and valleys are in full bloom; winter months (December to February) are perfect for snow activities but can be very cold.
The nearest airport is Srinagar International Airport, well connected to major Indian cities; Jammu Tawi railway station serves as a railhead. Private cabs are the most convenient way to explore places like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg.
Indian tourists do not require special permits to visit Kashmir, but foreigners need to register with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within 24 hours of arrival.
Kashmir is generally safe for solo travelers and families, especially in popular tourist areas like Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam; however, it is advisable to stay updated on local news and avoid travel during times of political unrest.
Pack layered clothing including warm jackets, especially if visiting between October and March, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and rain gear during the monsoon months (July-August).
A 7 to 10-day itinerary is ideal to comfortably explore Srinagar’s gardens and Dal Lake, enjoy snow sports in Gulmarg, and visit scenic valleys like Pahalgam and Sonamarg.
Paradise on Earth — snow-capped mountains, pristine lakes, and Mughal gardens.

Every winter, Gulmarg is overrun with skiers hoping to catch some of the best powder in India. But it’s more than just a winter destination—spring and summer transform the slopes into lush flower-dotted meadows with clear views of the Himalayas all around. You can hit the links at one of the highest golf courses in the world, make a wish at the sacred Baba Reshi Shrine, and ride the Gulmarg Gondola (another highest in the world) for even better panoramic views.

Indian spiritual legend says that those who visit the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi will be granted any righteous wish they make. Devotees hike roughly eight miles to the shrine, which is located at 5,300 feet. Scenic helicopter flights also transport visitors to the site, which draws more than five million people annually.
