How to Reach Ladakh

By Air

The easiest and fastest way to reach Ladakh is by air. Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) is the main airport serving Ladakh, located about 5 km from Leh town. It is well connected with direct flights from Delhi, Srinagar, and Jammu, especially during the tourist season from May to September. Flights operate regularly in summer, but winter services can be limited due to weather conditions. The flight from Delhi to Leh takes around 1.5 hours, offering spectacular views of the Himalayas.

By Train

There is currently no direct rail connectivity to Ladakh. The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi (JAT), approximately 700 km from Leh. From Jammu, travelers can hire private cabs or take buses to Srinagar or Manali, and then proceed to Leh by road. The Jammu to Leh road journey can take 2-3 days depending on stops and weather.

By Road

Ladakh is accessible by road via two main routes: the Manali-Leh Highway and the Srinagar-Leh Highway. Both roads are open from late May or early June to mid-October, depending on snowfall and road conditions. The Manali-Leh route (around 490 km) is more challenging with high mountain passes like Rohtang and Baralacha La, while the Srinagar-Leh route (around 434 km) is relatively easier and passes through the scenic Zojila Pass. TravMe’s private cab services ensure comfortable transfers along these routes, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes en route to Leh, Nubra Valley, and Pangong Lake.
