How to Reach Bali
By Air
The primary gateway to Bali is Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), located in Tuban near Kuta. It is well-connected with direct flights from major cities across Asia such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and also from Australia’s Sydney and Melbourne. From Europe and other continents, travelers usually connect via hubs like Singapore Changi, Kuala Lumpur International, or Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The airport is about 13 km from Kuta and 35 km from Ubud, with private cab transfers arranged by TravMe for a comfortable journey.
By Train
Bali does not have a railway network. The nearest train connections are on the neighboring island of Java, with major stations in Surabaya and Banyuwangi. Travelers arriving by train in Java typically take a ferry from Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk port in Bali, followed by a road transfer to their destination. However, for international travelers, flying directly into Bali is the most convenient option.
By Road
Once on the island, Bali’s well-maintained road network connects Kuta, Ubud, and Nusa Penida (via ferry from Sanur or Padang Bai). TravMe’s private cabs provide hassle-free transfers between these locations. Road travel times vary: Kuta to Ubud takes about 1.5 hours, while the ferry crossing to Nusa Penida takes around 30-45 minutes, followed by local road transfers on the island. Traffic can be busy during peak tourist seasons, especially from July to August and December.
